I have always had a passion for championing the rights and needs of people whose voices may not be heard. 

Tim Forester Morgan says:

I’ve worked with a wide spectrum of client groups and for over 30 years I’ve had the privilege of supporting people with dementia in a variety of different capacities. I’ve spent most of my professional career working in Residential Care Settings within the Voluntary Sector.

My role affords me an incredible opportunity to further develop opportunities to advocate and champion on behalf of others…and to try to inspire others to do the same along the way.

From my experiences of engaging with people with dementia and their carers, I am determined that my main focus should be to help everyone challenge the view that all people with dementia are seen as ‘sufferers.’ I truly believe that people can live well with dementia if afforded respect, care and support.

I believe that anyone who engages with a person with dementia, in whatever way, must have the right knowledge, attitude and ability to support them to thrive and continue to experience purposeful and meaningful lives.

I wholeheartedly believe that there should always be “An informed and effective workforce for people with dementia” (Objective 13 of the National Dementia Strategy).

Career beginnings

In 1992, I began my career in Social Care in Brighton. I worked for three years in a Care Home as an Activities Organiser with older people. I learnt so much from the residents, families and colleagues in that home. Without a doubt, this was the foundation of my career in dementia care.

Leadership Roles

I had opportunity to work through a number of care management roles within Older Peoples Services. For seven years, I was a Service Manager for Social Activity with a lead for activity provision, service development, education & training with a third sector organisation. I gained my ENBN11 from Middlesex University in 2001 and have been a practising Dementia Care Mapper since 2001.

Learning and Development

From 2005 I have specialised in working in the dementia care field and from 2008, exclusively in dementia awareness learning and development.

I have been involved in many projects for care settings commissioned by both Local Authorities and a wide variety of Services across the Voluntary, Independent and Private sectors.

I have presented at many conferences, written many articles and have most recently co-written The Dementia Care Training Library for Pavilion Publishing.

I am an NVQ/QCF Assessor and have a PTTLS qualification.

Learning and development

Although I am very happy to work with you on an entirely bespoke programme to support your learning and development, I can also offer a range of ‘off the peg’ training sessions.

Consultations

In addition to offering training programmes, I am pleased to offer a variety of consultation services, including Environmental Assessments, Dementia Care Settings Reviews and Dementia Care Mapping.
